Too much time on my hands...

The title of this post may be a little misleading, as I don't mind having all this time, in fact I even think I deserve it! But obviously I am used to being busy and with Bennett still at school, my housework all done and most of my Christmas shopping complete, I decided to embark on a baking frenzy. Please peruse the results at your pleasure and make lovely comments about my efforts which will boost my ego.

  1. That is a very nice comment Richard, even if it is a slight stretch of the truth. I am pretty pleased with myself though.

  2. Mmm. There seems to be a chocolate theme going here. As I have discovered that all baking benefits from a dash of alcohol I assume that you have added the appropriate matches.

    1. I'm not sure if those are jaffas or cherry tomatoes on top. If they are jaffas then a smidgeon of good Auckland wine would suit. Given the chocolate then a Waiheke Merlot blend would do. The Obsidian 2008?
If they are cherry tomatoes then the only possible match is a Marlborough Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc which tends to have a tomato stalk character.

    2. Those definitely look like cherries. A good and classic combination with the chocolate. No doubt you had Cherri-Suisse in mind when you put these together. This classic Swiss chocolate/cherry liqueuer is just perfect. I'm sure that you know this but a cup of the liqueur in the mix (and a glass for the cook) is just about right.

    3. I'm not sure what is going on here but the star is not the Jewish one and seems to have a Russian theme. There are some chocolate vodkas on the market but I'm sure that you know that the real McCoy is better and, given that clue of the star you must have used a good Russian vodka like Moskovskaya.

They look great. I guess, after the cooking tasting and a couple of those delectables, that you are currently having a lie down.

  3. Well done Fflur, you'd put Nigella Lawson to shame. You must have worked very hard to produce so many cakes.
I was going to add a bitter and cynical comment, probably with a good helping of innuendo. But I won't.
    Well done.

    Happy munching.
